Overview
Both units burn sugarcane bagasse — the fibrous residue left after crushing — to cogenerate renewable electricity. This is a circular use of a by-product that would otherwise be waste.
Bioelectricity is supplied to the Brazilian domestic grid and is listed here for completeness; it is not an export commodity.
